  • Resumen
    • Edward Kennedy delivered a major policy address during the 1980 Democratic national convention. In the speech, Kennedy used nostalgic appeals to serve therapeutic and deliberative functions. As part of the appeal, Kennedy invited his audience to share in a nostalgic reminiscence in which he portrayed himself as the leader who could return liberals to their idyllic past. This essay describes the emotion of nostalgia and the strategies and functions of nostalgic rhetorical appeals in order to analyze Kennedy's discourse.
