Resumen de Los desastres en México de los 80’s: Miedo, culpa y secuelas psicosociales

  En México el 19 de noviembre de 1984, en San Juanico (San Juan Ixhuatepec) se vivió una catástrofe industrial, sin precedentes en Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX); para hacer aceptable lo inaceptable, fue la Iglesia católica quien se pronunciara como la portavoz de una justicia divina, al señalar a los sanjuaniquences “culpables de ese castigo, por sus pecados”. Los sobrevivientes acuñaron su culpa y refrendando su castigo, crearon el mito de haber visto a la virgen de Guadalupe, en la cima del fuego con los brazos abiertos mostrando “3 veces el número 19”. A su vez, en la ciudad de México, el 19 de septiembre de 1985, tuvo lugar un sismo de enorme magnitud. Igual que en San Juanico, la Iglesia católica hizo énfasis en que “Dios había acabado, con las colonias del pecado”. Se creó así un clima de “culpa y castigo divino”. El interés de este trabajo es analizar el circuito del miedo y la culpa ante situaciones de catástrofe. Se tomarán como ejemplo estos dos casos.

  In Mexico on November 19, 1984, in San Juanico (San Juan Ixhuatepec) there was an industrial catastrophe, unprecedented in Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX); to make the unacceptable acceptable, it was the Catholic Church that would pronounce itself as the spokesman for a divine justice, in pointing to the Sanjuaniquences "guilty of that punishment, for their sins."
