Abstract
It has been debated whether the velarization of the final nasal exists in Isleño Spanish, or if, on the contrary, its absence is the only characteristic of this linguistic variety. Using data from sociolinguistic recordings, our study identifies 11.6% of total final nasal velarizing. It is attested most often in final prepausal position, in tonic syllable, after a low vowel [a] and before a high vowel [u], dental occlusive [d], and alveolar nasal [n].
