Studying strophic, prosodic and rhyming aspects, this contribution aims to map the twentieth-century and early 2000s form of canzonetta. Including, within the opposite poles of a strong and weak metricity, a range of architectures that recover, reinterpret or dissolve the traditional shapes, the study establishes tangencies, innovations and discontinuities in relation to the latter. The work also reflects on the new functions assumed by the form.
