Resumen de Desempeño cognitivo: un indicador incomprendido de la calidad educativa

  La calidad de la educación es una temática recurrente en la agenda de los organismos que rigen las políticas educativas globales. Esta se asocia a diferentes factores relacionados con la infraestructura, el entorno familiar, el desempeño docente y el logro de los estándares de aprendizaje. Sin embargo, los referentes de aprendizaje no se pueden ver reducidos, solo al conocimiento que ha alcanzado el estudiante, sino a lo que es capaz de hacer el alumno,el desempeño cognitivo quealcanzó. Es porello que, las pruebas estandarizadas que realizan los organismos internacionales encargados de monitorear la calidad de la educación toman como punto de partida este indicador que todavía sigue siendo un gran incomprendido. Por tanto, el objetivo del presente trabajo es ofrecer un conjunto de reflexiones en torno a los elementos teóricos que giran alrededor del desempeño cognitivo y su relación con la calidad de la educación.

  The quality of education is a recurring theme on the agenda of the organizations that govern global educational policies. This is associated with different factors related to infrastructure, family environment, teaching performance and achievement of learning standards. However, learning standards cannot be reduced only to the knowledge that the student has achieved, but to what the student is capable of doing with what he or she knows, the cognitive performance that he/she has achieved. That is why the standardized tests carried out by international organizations responsible for monitoring the quality of education take this indicator as a starting point, which is still largely misunderstood. That is why the objective of this paper is to offer a set of reflections on the theoretical elements that revolve around cognitive performance and its relationship with the quality of education.
