This research shows how, through the publication L’Observateur Espagnol (1822-1823), the exalted Spanish liberal government tried to influence French citizens and political representatives in order to avoid military intervention in Spain. The Spanish newspaper published in French will fight the image spread by the moderate and ultra French press about the Spanish revolutionary process which was based on political categories formulated during the French Revolution. Through that newspaper, the Spanish government will counter the perception that there was a transnational liberal culture capable of spreading the revolution in France. The years of Triennium was a time of novelty and political ingenuity insofar as the exalted Spanish liberal government was convinced that the pressure of the press on French citizens and politicians could change the views of the French government.
