Resumen de Programme for european cooperating states (pecs): Project space image processing (sip)

  • Lithuania signed European Cooperating States (ECS) agreement on October 2014 and integrated into the PECS charter on September 2015. Synergies of two institutions education - Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) and government - National Paying Agency (NPA) together received funding under the PECS programme on 2019.The aim of the project was to prepare study course “Space Image processing” and integrate it into the VGTU study program.The core requirements for the study course was to:i) prepare theoretical lecture material in the area of remote sensingii) develop practical exercises (laboratory works)iii) select reference material for student self-study workiv) integrate the course within the Moodle platformv) define the prerequisites for the candidate course attendees andvi) test the course content with the help of professionals with different engineering background and experience in remote sensing techniques.The study course was developed following defined requirements and EU higher education standards regarding (ECTS), and learning outcomes. Also, it was tested, evaluated and approved by European Space Agency (ESA) and NPA specialists.For the students, this subject was as optional subject and for those who chose it, helped to learn about the space technologies and their use in various engineering solutions. Last but not least the study course “Space Image processing” was successfully integrated into the higher education study processes in VGTU and was positively accepted by students who chose it.
