Resumen de Women and the conservation of agroecosystems: An experiential analysis in the Río Nacimiento region of Almería (Spain)

  Las estrategias de conservación de la biodiversidad necesitan de aproximaciones interdisciplinares para hacer frente a los impulsores de cambio que están modificando los ecosistemas y las comunidades que los gestionan. Dentro de estas aproximaciones los aspectos de género han sido infraestudiados a pesar de su relevancia. En este trabajo nos planteamos identificar y caracterizar la vinculación de distintas generaciones de mujeres con los agroecosistemas y cómo ha cambiado, a través del estudio de las prácticas individuales y colectivas que realizan y las motivaciones que subyacen a éstas. Durante 2011 y 2012 desarrollamos una investigación cualitativa en la cuenca del río Nacimiento (Almería, España). Se realizaron 13 entrevistas en profundidad, seleccionadas mediante un casillero tipológico construido en función de la edad de la entrevistada y su vinculación con las labores agrícolas. Los distintos discursos planteados destacan la necesidad de comprender e incentivar la variedad de motivaciones intrínsecas y prácticas de manejo relacionadas con las tareas agrícolas y de fomentar la inserción de estas dentro de estrategias colectivas.

  Strategies for the conservation of biodiversity need interdisciplinary approaches in order to face the drivers of change that are modifying ecosystems and the communities that manage them. Among these approaches, the dimensions of gender have been under-examined despite their relevance. In this study, we propose to identify and characterize the relationships between different generations of women and agroecosystems and how they have changed, through the study of their individual and collective practices and their underlying motivations for doing so. We conducted qualitative research in 2011 and 2012 in the Nacimiento River watershed (Almería, Spain). Thirteen in-depth interviews were conducted, selected through a typological framework elaborated based on the age of the subject and her connection to farming activities. The different discourses provided highlight the need to understand and stimulate the variety of intrinsic motivations and management practices relating to farming activities and to encourage their incorporation into collective strategies.
