    Hablar de Caravaca es hablar de una ciudad marcada por su pasado medieval, clave para comprender su configuración actual. Una etapa marcada, donde la leyenda o la verdad se mezclan. Hablamos del hito que marcaría su importancia histórica a nivel internacional, como será la Vera Cruz y los Caballos del Vino. Será desde este momento cuando Caravaca se convierta en un hito del cristianismo. Sobre su tradición y legado religioso, irá evolucionando, configurándose y edificándose como ciudad. Desarrollo que, por desgracia, se ha ido investigando de una forma que obvia, o no incide en profundidad, sobre el papel o labor que tuvieron las mujeres en todo ello. Mujeres que, muchas de ellas, fueron determinantes para entender lo que es hoy en día Caravaca. Por tanto, este trabajo de investigación pretende analizar la evolución histórica, urbanística y cultural de Caravaca atendiendo principalmente a las mujeres que participaron de manera activa o que influyeron indirectamente en el desarrollo de su proceso histórico. Sin olvidarnos, por supuesto, de la importancia que tuvo la Vera Cruz en su historia.

    Caravaca is a city marked by its medieval past, key to understanding its current configuration. A marked period, where the legend and the truth are mixed. We are talking about the milestone that would mark its historical importance at an international level, such as the Vera Cruz and the Caballos del Vino. It will be from this moment when Caravaca becomes a landmark of Christianity. Based on its tradition and religious legacy, it will evolve, shape itself and build itself as a city. Development which, unfortunately, has been investigated in a way that ignores, or does not go into depth, the role or work that women played in all of this. Many of these women were decisive in understanding what Caravaca is today. Therefore, this research aims to analyse the historical, urban and cultural evolution of Caravaca, focusing mainly on the women who actively participated or indirectly influenced the development of its historical process. Without forgetting, of course, the importance of the Vera Cruz in its history.
