    La irreverente y ácrata El Papus destacó entre sus coetáneas por un humor ácido, incluso negro, que no dejó sin deformar a ninguno de los poderes fácticos de la Transición española. La observación de 4.661 piezas, a través del análisis de contenido, evidencia que, aunque la Monarquía fue un tema minoritario en el grueso de su sátira, cuando lo abordó lo hizo bajo un prisma desfavorable y de desengaño. La redacción achacó el abuso de poder que ejerció el jefe del Estado, como el del resto de casas reales, y criticó la hipocresía en sus promesas de libertades individuales. Dado el marco normativo, el semanario evitó verbalizar sus críticas en la figura de Juan Carlos I y apostó por el ingenio que permiten el equívoco, el doble significado y la alegoría. La sátira se ciñó sobre la jefatura del Estado especialmente tras la victoria del PSOE, aprovechando el mayor reducto de libertad y conscientes de la inoperatividad del pacto de silencio.

    The irreverent and incisive El Papus stood out among her contemporaries for its acid, even black humour, which did not leave undeformed any of the powers of the Spanish Transition. The observation of 4661 pieces, through content analysis, shows that although the Monarchy was a minority theme in the bulk of its satire, it was treated from an unfavourable and disillusioned point of view. The editorial staff blamed the abuse of power exercised by the head of state, like that of the other royal houses, and criticised the hypocrisy of his promises of individual liberties. Given the regulatory framework, the weekly avoided verbalising its criticisms of Juan Carlos I and opted for the wit allowed by equivocation, double meanings and allegory. The satire focused on the head of state, especially after the PSOE's victory, taking advantage of the greatest redoubt of freedom and aware of the ineffectiveness of the pact of silence.
