Resumen de Memoria y percepción del Patrimonio a través de la imagen: el Templo de Diana de Mérida

Esta comunicación pretende realizar una revisión del papel de la imagen en relación con la Arqueología, comofuente de información y análisis, pudiendo de este modo reflexionar sobre la percepción del Patrimonio a travésde las metamorfosis del mismo a lo largo del tiempo. Para ello centramos la investigación en Augusta Emeritay específicamente en el estudio de un edificio sobresaliente de la ciudad: el Templo de Diana, desarrollando undiario visual de su evolución a lo largo de su historia. El discurso se apoya en el registro gráfico conservado deledificio en forma de dibujos, grabados, planos y fotografías, sin olvidar las imágenes literarias, permitiendo realizar un análisis de las pautas de representación gráfica, que influirán en la memoria colectiva que se percibedel monumento. Es en la apariencia final del edificio y su entorno, resultado de un proceso de intervencionesque han sido tan premiadas como criticadas, donde podemos observar su revalorización como Monumento, encuanto a elemento percibido como icono e imagen de la ciudad.

This paper attempts to make a review of the role of image in relation with archaeology, as a source of informationand analysis, allowing to make a reflection about the perception of Heritage through its metamorphosis alongthe time. For this, we will focus the research on Augusta Emerita and particularly on the study of an outstandingbuilding of the town: the Temple of Diana, developing a visual diary of its evolution through its history. Thediscourse is supported on the graphic record preserved about the building in drawings, engravings, plans andphotographic forms, without forgetting its literary images, allowing to make an analysis of the guidelines ofgraphic representation, that have influenced the collective memory by which the building is perceived . It is inthe final appearance of the building and its surroundings, which is the result of a process of interventions thathas been as awarded as it has been criticized, where we can observe its revaluation as a Monument, as regardsits perception as an icon and image of the city.
