Resumen de Protection from pollution in inland navigation in the Republic of Serbia

  • In the Republic of Serbia in the last five years new laws were adopted introducing many innovations, especially in separating regulation of maritime navigation from internal navigation regulation. The Law on navigation and ports on inland waters (“Official Gazette RS“no.73/2010, 121/2012) brings modern tendencies and harmonization with international regulatory trends of inland navigation. In this paper new legislative changes in our country in the field of protection from pollution in inland navigation are analyzed together with practical problems. Study completed in year 2007. showed increased pollution of the Danube in comparison to year 2001, the water quality was deteriorated, especially in the middle and lower course. At the same time ecologists in Serbia fought against construction of shipyard near the nature reserve “Carska bara“.
