Resumen de Inventario de LIG en el área del Cabo Ortegal (norte de Galicia)

En el norte de la provincia de A Coruña se encuentra el Cabo Ortegal, una zona con un gran interés geológico y que constituye un referente en la geología española y europea. Su singularidad reside en la presencia de materiales procedentes de la Corteza inferior y del Manto superior, generados en la orogenia Varisca, por la colisión entre Laurussia y Gondwana durante el Paleozoico Superior. El área de estudio tiene aproximadamente 580 km2 y geológicamente está formada por el complejo alóctono de Cabo Ortegal y una parte del parauctóctono o alóctono inferior. Este inventario representa una relación de lugares con patrimonio geológico en el área del Cabo Ortegal. Está constituido por un total de cuarenta LIG, en los que se han caracterizado y cuantificado el grado y el tipo de interés, el riesgo de degradación y la prioridad de protección. Con este trabajo se pretende optimizar la gestión del patrimonio geológico de esta zona.

Cabo Ortegal is found in the northern of the A Coruña. It is an area with a great geological interest and a reference in the Spanish and European geology. Its uniqueness lies in the ocurrence of materials from the lower crust and upper mantle, resulting from the Variscan orogeny by the collision between Laurussia and Gondwana during the Upper Paleozoic. The studied area has approximately 580 km2 and it is geologically composed of the allochthonous complex Cabo Ortegal and a part of parachthonous or lower allochthonous. This work represents the inventory of sites with geological heritage in the Cabo Ortegal area. It is represented by a total of forty geosites, which have been characterized. Additionally, the degree and interest rate, the degradation risk and the protection priority have been quantified. Therefore this work will help to optimize the management of the geological heritage of this area.
