En este ensayo analizaremos estos conceptos ampliamente y lo focalizaremos en la República Guaraní. Analizaremos las causas del fracaso (pragmático) de esta utopía platónica, influenciada por Tomás Moro. De la misma manera estudiaremos el fracaso, también desde la perspectiva pragmática, de las utopías europeas, a raíz de la República Guaraní. Existe un patrón de comportamiento tanto en el viejo como en el nuevo mundo. Sin duda es el pragmatismo la gran ausencia en ambos contextos. Finalmente esbozaremos como el proceso histórico en el que se produjo todo esto implicó una suma a la identidad americana posterior, un rasgo más de la formación de esta cultura junto a otros elementos.

In this essay we will analyze these concepts extensively and will focus on the Guaraní Republic. We will analyze the causes of the (pragmatic) failure of this Platonic utopia, influenced by Thomas More. In the same way we will study the failure, also from the pragmatic perspective, of the European utopias, as a result of the Guarani Republic. There is a pattern of behavior in both the old and the new world. Without a doubt, pragmatism is the great absence in both contexts. Finally we will outline how the historical process in which all this took place implied an addition to the later American identity, one more feature of the formation of this culture along with other elements
