The first hand-coloured early film produced by William K.L. Dickson and Thomas Alva Edison in 1895 is Annabelle Serpentine Dance: The subject is the choreography of the serpentine dance performed by the famous American dancer, Annabelle Moore. In 1897, two years later, Auguste and Louise Lumière also produced the early film titled Danse Serpentine, with the same subject. This film, no. 765 in their catalog, produced by an unknown camera operator shot the scene in Italy. Through these early films, the pioneers of cinema experimented with the technique of film colourization and presented to humanity, at the end of the eighteenth century, the colour on the picture in movement. These extraordinary films stage the relationship between the art of the dancing gesture in the development of the subject Butterfly and the poetic art of plastic movement in the space when all these elements become the spectacle. A visual show enhanced by the presence of colours that blend into each other in a choreographic narration offering great visual aesthetic impact, even after more than a century, an interdisciplinary significant experience on visual perception education.
