Resumen de Desarrollo del turismo comunitario en la parroquia Tumbabiro

El presente trabajo de investigación pretende dar una respuesta a los graves problemas económicos, sociales y ambientales que afectan a los habitantes de la parroquia de Tumbabiro. Esta parroquia, situada al norte de la serranía ecuatoriana, específicamente en el cantón San Miguel de Urcuqui perteneciente a la provincia de Imbabura, tiene un gran porcentaje de población, catalogada como pobre, que carece de empleo, o que trabaja menos de 30 horas a la semana, los parroquianos encuentran trabajo únicamente en la agricultura y eventualmente en la avicultura en condiciones muchas veces irracionales y poco justas y solamente en ciertas épocas del año, dando como resultado una fuerte precariedad laboral. Esta carencia de fuentes empleo, de ocupación y por lo tanto de ingresos les impide satisfacer sus necesidades básicas, incrementa los niveles de pobreza y marginalidad ya existentes y provoca inconformidad en sus habitantes, los mismos que se han visto obligados a abandonar sus tierras y a emigrar a ciudades como Ibarra, Quito e incluso al extranjero. Por otro lado el desconocimiento de los parroquianos sobre el uso adecuado de fungicidas y pesticidas, sobre el cuidado de aves y otros animales y sobre la protección y preservación de las fuentes de agua está provocando un mayor deterioro del ambiente.
Gracias al enorme potencial turístico, tanto natural como cultural que posee la parroquia de Tumbabiro, como las vertientes de agua termal con temperaturas superiores a 45 grados centígrados las mismas que son utilizadas para el tratamiento de diferentes enfermedades o los hallazgos arqueológicos llamados las Tolas, construidos y utilizados por nuestros antepasados en usos funerarios o ceremonias religiosas o también por los atractivos propios que tiene la parroquia como la plazoleta, sus calles adoquinadas, sus casas de grandes paredes de adobe o por su variada y exquisita gastronomía y luego de haber realizado un estudio de mercado para determinar la oferta turística existente en la zona, así como la demanda potencial y probables requerimientos de los demandantes, presento una propuesta de desarrollo alternativo que busca generar nuevas fuentes de empleo, mejorar las condiciones de vida de la los habitantes en procura de alcanzar su bienestar, dinamizar la economía local, mantener y cuidar el patrimonio natural y proteger la identidad cultural.
Esta propuesta de desarrollo consiste en la formación de un Centro de Turismo Comunitario que ofrecerá los servicios de alojamiento, en las propias viviendas de los parroquianos, de alimentación en los comedores y casas de los moradores, además de servicios de transporte y guianza hacia los diferentes atractivos turísticos que posee la parroquia y otras actividades de recreación como fiestas en la plazoleta de la parroquia, acompañadas de la venta de artesanías, todo lo cual se realizará con la gestión de la propia comunidad organizada y con el apoyo de las autoridades locales.

This research aims to answer the serious economic, social and environmental issues affecting the people of the parish of Tumbabiro. This parish, north of the Ecuadorian highlands, specifically in the village of San Miguel de Urcuqui belonging to the province of Imbabura, has a large percentage of population classified as poor, who are unemployed or working less than 30 hours week, parishioners find work only in agriculture and eventually in poultry in often irrational and not very fair and only at certain times of the year, resulting in a strong job insecurity. This lack of sources employment, occupation and therefore revenue prevents them meet their basic needs, increased levels of poverty and marginalization existing and causes discomfort to its inhabitants, they have been forced to abandon their land and migrate to cities like Ibarra, Quito and even abroad. On the other hand the lack of parishioners about the proper use of fungicides and pesticides and the protection and care of water sources is causing further deterioration of the environment.
Thanks to the enormous tourism potential, both natural and cultural possessing Parish Tumbabiro, as the slopes of thermal water with temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius same that are used to treat different diseases or archaeological findings called the Tolas used by our ancestors in funeral customs and religious ceremonies or also own attractions that the parish as the square, cobbled streets, houses with large walls of adobe or its varied and exquisite cuisine and after having conducted a market study to determine the existing tourism in the area as well as the potential and probable requirements of the plaintiffs claim, submit a proposal for alternative development that seeks to generate new sources of employment, improved living conditions of the inhabitants in an attempt to achieve their welfare, boost the local economy, maintain and protect the natural heritage and protect cultural identity.
This development proposal involves the formation of a Community Tourism Center will offer accommodation services in their own homes of parishioners, food in canteens and houses of the residents, in addition to transport services and guidance to the different tourist attractions that owns the parish and nearby locations and other recreational activities such as parties in the square of the parish accompanied by the sale of handicrafts, all of which will be made to the management of organized community and with the support of the authorities local.
