Resumen de La Formación Profesional como alternativa al fracaso escolar. Posibilidades y límites

  El presente artículo analiza las posibilidades y límites de la Formación Profesional, tanto la tradicional como la modalidad Dual, como alternativa a las altas tasas de abandono y fracaso escolar en España en los niveles básicos y obligatorios; y para responder a los retos de una sociedad que avanza en progresión geométrica mientras las soluciones formativas lo hacen en progresión aritmética. Tras exponer el significado de las cifras negativas que, tanto desde instancias internacionales como estatales, alertan de la problemática en España, como es el riesgo de la exclusión social, sobre todo en una sociedad globalizada que se encamina hacia la cuarta revolución industrial, la digitalización, la industria 4.0, la desaparición de profesiones actuales y la aparición de otras aún sin concretar, la demanda de profesionales formados en competencias múltiples y flexibles, etc., se apuesta por una nueva vertebración del sistema educativo en la que la Formación Profesional, fundamentalmente en su modalidad Dual, adquiera un papel preponderante como formación de profesionales cualificados. Naturalmente, también se reflexiona sobre los posibles límites de la Formación Profesional tradicional, y de la Dual, a tenor de las experiencias y estudios sobre este nivel educativo y la dificultad de trasplantar modelos de otros países sin las pertinentes adecuaciones a las características del sistema educativo-formativo español y de su tejido productivo.

  This article analyzes the possibilities and limits of Vocational Training. Both the traditional and Dual Vocational training are considered an alternative to the high drop-out rates and school failure in Spain at the basic and compulsory levels. It fulfills the challenges of a society advancing in geometric progression whereas educational options do so in arithmetic progression. Once showing the meaning of negative figures, it is inferred that both international and state authorities warn about the risk of social exclusion in Spain, above all in a globalized society heading towards the Fourth Industrial Revolution, digitalization, Industry 4.0, the removal of existing professions and the opening of others still to be specified, the demand for professionals trained in multiple and flexible skills, and so on. Thus, there is a strong emphasis on a new structure of the educational system in which Vocational Training, mainly in its Dual modality, acquires a leading role as training of qualified professionals. By all means, it also reflects on the potential limits of the traditional and Dual Vocational Training, based on the experiences and studies on this educational level and the difficulty of implementing other countries models without the corresponding adjustments to the characteristics of the Spanish educational training system and its industrial network.
