Fukuyama was not writing about the end of the world, but rather the end point in liberal democratic ascendency. Fukuyama stated that: not just ... the passing of a particular period of post-war history, but the end of history as such: That is, the endpoint of mankind's ideological evolution and the universalization of Western liberal democracy as the final form of human government"1. In reality Fukuyama was not writing from a negative outlook but rather from what we in the West would see as a perspective of hope for a brighter future....
