The aim of this study is to analyse orality as one of the preliminary norms that allow the publication of translations of CYA Literature on Arabic and Islamic culture in Spain, from Arabic -Palestinian and Hassanya dialects-, as well as from various European languages. The corpus of analysis is based on the Simsim Guide of children’s and youth books to look at the Arab world (Casa Arabe 2008, 2010). The analysis is focused on three questions: The Thousand and One Nights and their post-colonial rewritings, the Maghreb (Berber and Saharawi cultures), and the Palestinian question, with a special reference to the agency of Spanish translators who conceive their intellectual work as a project of recognition of different cultural and social frameworks that make up the Arab and Islamic World: is the case of Montserrat Rabadán Carrascosa and her translation of the Palestinian Jrefiyye tales, and Fernando Pinto and his translation the Saharan oral narrative of the region of Trab el-Bidan. |
