    Cuando el pasado 24 de junio el Ministro de Justicia anunció en el Senado que la llevanza de los Registros Civiles en España corresponderá a los Registradores Mercantiles, estaba con ello poniendo fin a una situación de incertidumbre generada por el propio Gobierno.

    El desconcierto y decepción que a los Secretarios Judiciales ha producido esta medida es equiparable al monumental error que la adopción de la misma supone no solo para la Administración de Justicia, sino para la sociedad en general. Con todos los respetos, no existe en la Administración del Estado Cuerpo Jurídico más preparado para la llevanza de los Registros Civiles que el de los Secretarios judiciales.

    When last June 24th the Minister of Justice announced in the Spanish Senate that mercantile registrars would be in charge of the Spanish Civil Registries, he resolved the uncertainty that the Government self had created.

    The puzzlement and disappointment felt by the court secretaries due to this decision is on a par with the tremendous mistake such decision is fraught with, not only for the Spanish Administration of Justice but for the Spanish society at large. With all due respect, there is no legal body in the whole Administration better prepared for the keeping of the Spanish Civil Registries than court secretaries.
