Resumen de Entre Amor y Marte. El carro triunfal durante los reinados de Carlos IV y Fernando VII

Estudiamos en este artículo las representaciones visuales de carros triunfales durante los primeros años del siglo XIX en España, en un período cronológico correspondiente a los reinados de Carlos IV y Fernando VII. Nos centramos en aquellos transportes representativos que portaron de manera física a los monarcas o héroes militares en las entradas reales o cortejos fúnebres durante los convulsos años del fin del Antiguo Régimen y Guerra de Independencia. Pretendemos analizar los antecedentes iconográficos inmediatos y las referencias culturales y políticas del contexto histórico donde se resucita esta imagen a lo romano del vehículo triunfal.

This article studies visual representations of triumphal chariots during the first years of the 19th century in Spain, those that coincide with the reigns of Carlos IV and Fernando VII. It focuses on those representative transports that physically carried monarchs or military heroes at the royal entrances or funeral proccesions during the turbulent years of the end of the ancient regime and the War of Independence against Napoleon. The work analyses iconographic antecedents and cultural and political references of the historical context where this Roman image of the triumphal vehicle is resurrected.
