Resumen de L’ "In Statii Thebaida Commentum" di Lattanzio Placido: struttura del commento e interessi del commentatore

In this paper, we carefully and strictly put under statistical survey the Lactantii Placidi in Thebaida Commentum. This examination clearly reveals that this Commentum has an irregular and non-symmetric structure, since it appears comprehensive and detailed in the first part, concise and hasty in the final section. Between interests which move Lactantius Placidus during the Commentum’s drafting, the most important undoubtedly is exegetical aspect, which is followed by the attention to myth, by the auctoritates’ quotations and by his own judgments on Statius’ text. There are also, even if less numerous than previous, scholia whose subject is religion, grammar and rhetoric, geography and history. In this paper all these scholia also, divided according to the different cataloguing criteria, have been put under statistical survey to get information about Lactantius’ 'modus operandi'.

In questo contributo, il Lactantii Placidi in Thebaida Commentum è stato sottoposto ad una attenta e rigorosa indagine di natura statistica. Da tale indagine emerge evidente come il Commento presenti una struttura disomogenea e asimmetrica, risultando ampio e dettagliato nella prima parte, stringato e cursorio nella parte finale. Q uanto agli interessi che animano Lattanzio Placido nella redazione di tale Commento, a prevalere è senz’altro l’aspetto esegetico, seguito dall’attenzione al mito, dalla citazione delle auctoritates e dall’esternazione di propri giudizi sul testo staziano. Non mancano, seppure in misura meno ampia rispetto ai precedenti, neppure scolii di argomento religioso, grammaticale-retorico, geografico e storico. Di tutti questi scolii, suddivisi per criteri di catalogazione, nel presente contributo è indagata la distribuzione statistica, al fine di trarne indicazioni sul 'modus operandi' di Lattanzio Placido.
