Resumen de El Sistema de Información Geológico Minero de Extremadura (SIGEO)
The Geological and Mining Information System of Extremadura (SIGEO) is a website made by the Directorate of Industrial Ordination, Energy and Mining from the Autonomous Government of Extremadura, that includes geological and mining cartography; including the mining cadastre; geological and mining reports, books and publications carried out by the regional Administration; and metadata from that cartography. All the maps are prepared and served with GIS technology. The system allows Mining Authorities the capture, storage, enquiry, analysis and presentation of the geological and mining resources from Extremadura in a easy and centralised way, thanks to the Geographic Information System environment, so that this system actually has became an essential tool in the mining industry in order to make decisions. Moreover, the SIGEO has been conceived as a support tool to other administration agencies, like civil works, environment, etc., scientists from University and other research centres, and finally, to the whole society.
