Resumen de El progresivo en el español peninsular dialectal

La perífrasis estar más gerundio en español como estrategia progresiva ha suscitado numerosos trabajos. Todos ellos apuntan que puede hacer referencia a una lectura focal, durativa, iterativa e, incluso, habitual. Sin embargo, la variedad americana estaría en una fase ulterior, al imitar en cierta medida el inglés y haber especializado el progresivo también para una lectura de futuro inmediato. En este artículo, se pretende dar cuenta de la vigencia actual del progresivo en el español peninsular dialectal y comprobar si su empleo se restringe geográficamente, qué factores sintácticos lo condicionan, qué aspectos semánticos influyen en su configuración y hasta qué medida ha podido llegar al estadio de la variedad americana.

The periphrasis estar (‘to be’) plus gerund in Spanish as a progressive strategy has drawn much attention. All the studies that have dealt with it point out that it can refer to different readings: focal, durative, iterative and even habitual. However, the American variety would be in an ulterior phase, as it would imitate to some extent the English language by also having specialised the progressive to express future. In this article, I aim to account for the current validity of the progressive in dialect Peninsular Spanish and verify whether its usage is geographically restrained, what syntactic factors condition it, what semantic aspects affect its construction and to what extent it has achieved the stage attested in the American variety.
