    Antiguamente Villanañe (Valdegobía. Álava) se llamaba Nabia. Nabia es el nombre de una deidad indoeuropea de carácter guerrero que habita en los ríos. El hallazgo milagroso de una imagen de la virgen en este lugar da pie a fundar el santuario de Nuestra Señora de Angosto. Creo que esta coincidencia no es una casualidad y se explica por la pervivencia del carácter sagrado del lugar y la reinterpretación del culto anterior.

    In ancient times, Villanañe (Valdegobía, Alava) was called Nabia. Nabia was the name of an Indo-European divinity warlike who lived in the rivers. The miraculous discovery of a Virgin's image in this place provoked the building of the sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de Angosto. I think that coincidence has not been by chance, and this can be explained easily in the continuity of the holy character of this place and the new interpretation of the cult that existed before.

    Villanañeko (Gaubea. Araba) aintzineko izena Nabia zen. Nabia ibaietan bizi den gudariÁiiaerako jainkosa indoeuropear baten izena da. Ama birginaren mirarizko irudi baten aurkikuntzak Nuestra Señora de Angostoko santutegiaren sorrera ekartzen du. Koinzidentzia hau kasualitatea ez dela uste dut eta tokiaren izaera sakratuaren iraupenagatik eta aurreko kultuaren reinterpretazioagatik azaldu daiteke.
