    Este artículo tiene como propósito describir y evaluar la labor desarrollada por el Instituto de Formación y Estudios en Democracia (IFED) del Tribunal Supremo de Elecciones de Costa Rica (TSE) durante su primera década de existencia. El texto se organiza en tres partes. La primera explica los orígenes, las funciones y la organización del IFED. La segunda parte describe la labor de las diferentes áreas de trabajo del IFED y sus mayores logros. La tercera parte consiste en una reflexión sobre las tareas pendientes y retos del IFED

    This article aims at describing and assessing the work of the Institute of Formation and Studies in Democracy (IFED) from the Supreme Electoral Tribunal of Costa Rica during its first decade of existence. The article is organized in three parts. The first part explains the origins, the duties and the organization of IFED. The second part describes the work of the different task areas of IFED and its most relevant achievements. The third part presents a reflection on the pending issues and challenges of IFED
