    Generalmente, cuando se realizan estudios sobre la nobleza en la Edad Media o Moderna, se suele obviar el papel que las mujeres ejercieron dentro de las casas nobiliarias en su día a día, ignorando las funciones que ejercían como tutoras y curadoras de los menores, el mecenazgo y patronazgo ejercido sobre las instituciones civiles y eclesiásticas, o las labores de gobierno de sus Estados cuando el titular de la Casa se ausentaba por un periodo de tiempo indeterminado, lo cual compromete la visión histórica que tenemos sobre las casas señoriales, al no tener en cuenta el impacto social, económico, político y jurídico que estas y otras cuestiones influyen en el devenir de la nobleza a lo largo del tiempo.

    Though, no doubt, there are exceptions, as a general rule when researching about the nobility in the Middle or Modern Ages, more often than not, the women’s roles are left out. Nevertheless, they were at the core of theeveryday life of the nobility houses as tutors or curators of the children, the patronage or membership of the board of trustees that they exercised over civilians and ecclesiastical institutions, and the governance tasks of their Estates when the lord ofthe House was absent for an undetermined period of time, which distort the historical vision that we have about the aristocratic houses, because the social, economic, politic and judicial impact of these and other issues that have and undoubted sway over the evolution the nobility through the time, have not been taken into account.
