  • My Century: The Odyssey of a Polish Intellectual by Aleksander Wat has been prepared by the pair of translators J. Slawomirski and A. Rubió and edited in the editorial Acantilado in 2009. The translation had to be a great challenge since the book is a complicated and hybrid text. With regard to the generic form, it is a trans-discursive text, as far as the content is an unfinished speech and as far as the style is a poetic text. We have been analyzing these three aspects of the book to conclude that the style chosen by the translators determined the shape of Wat’s book, that is, a kind of historical document or personal testimony.
