The soluble organic matter of the Kimmeridgian Asturias jet has been studied by gas chromatographyl mass spectrometry. The sample was obtained by extractive sonication with carbon disulfide as solvent. The qualitative determination of the differente compunds present m the sample show that this jet is composed of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from naphtalene to benz(a)pyrene and their correspondmg alkyl derivatives.
