    El Instituto Valencia de Don Juan fue creado en 1916 por el matrimonio Guillermo Joaquín de Osma y Scull, Duque de Osma y Adelaida Crooke Guzmán, Condesa de Valencia de Don Juan con el fin de servir a la investigación. Cuenta con más de 8000 piezas (armas, cerámicas hispano-árabes, cuadros, azabaches, etc.) y en su biblioteca conserva 40.000 documentos, desde los Reyes Católicos hasta el siglo XIX. Entre todo el legado, destaca un importante fondo fotográfico, compuesto por más de 10.000 originales de los siglos XIX y XX en distintos soportes. Es objeto de este trabajo la puesta en valor y difusión del fondo fotográfico del Instituto Valencia de Don Juan. Se realiza una propuesta metodológica para el estudio del fondo y el análisis de los originales aportando nuevos datos sobre autores, formatos, temática a la investigación sobre historia de la fotografía

    The Valencia de Don Juan Institute was created in 1916 by Guillermo Joaquín de Osma y Scull, Duke of Osma, and his wife Adelaida Crooke Guzmán, Countess of Valencia de Don Juan, with the idea of encouraging research and investigation. It features more than 8,000 items (weapons, Spanish-Arabic ceramics, paintings, sculptures, etc.) and its library contains 40,000 documents from the Catholic Monarchs Ferdinand and Isabel until the 19th century. The entire endowment also includes an important photographic collection, made up of 10,000 originals dating back to the 19th and 20th centuries, on a variety of supports. The purpose of this study is to highlight and promote the photographic collection of the Valencia de Don Juan Institute. A methodological proposal is offered for the study of the collection and the analysis of the originals, and new information is furnished on authors, formats and other subjects related to the study and investigation of the History of Photography.
