Resumen de Where is descriptive geometry heading?

Rafael Ortiz Marín, María Gloria del Río Cidoncha, Juan Martínez Palacios

  • Has descriptive geometry died? Although the question can be impressive for Graphic Engineering, it is thought that the answer would be yes, with some nuances. Descriptive geometry has allowed solving all kinds of three-dimensional problems, reducing them to two-dimensional problems. This paper aims to demonstrate that currently with the new tools available in geometry such as CAD/CAM applications; you can not only model, assemble and reproduce sets of parts, but also solve all kinds of geometry spatial problems. The possibility of solving these three-dimensional problems using CAD applications, using very simple orders for their implementation and subsequent determination, opens a new path in geometry. It will be explained, throughout the article, how the different methods that the descriptive has to show the distances and the angles in their true magnitudes, are not necessary if the tools of the CAD/CAM applications are used, in particular Solid Edge.
