Resumen de El sarcófago de La Pueblanueva (Toledo) del Museo Arqueológico Nacional

En el presente texto se detallan de manera resumida los conocimientos que tenemos hasta el momento sobre el sarcófago de Pueblanueva, hallado hacia 1870/1 in situ en la cripta del mausoleo tardorromano homónimo y desde 1881 conservado en el Museo Arqueológico Nacional, Madrid.
Además de los principales datos documentales que conocemos sobre el sarcófago, se incluyen también las principales interpretaciones iconográficas que ha suscitado la pieza hasta la fecha, así como los resultados de los recientes análisis arqueométricos que han sido realizados a la misma, gracias a los cuales se confirma la procedencia de su mármol en las canteras del Anticlinal de Estremoz (Évora, Portugal).

The present text summarizes the knowledge that we have so far about the sarcophagus of Pueblanueva, found in 1870/1 in situ in the crypt of the homonymous Late Roman Mausoleum, and since 1881 preserved in the Museo Arqueológico Nacional, Madrid.
Besides the main documentary data that we know about the Sarcophagus, the text also includes the main iconographic interpretations raised up to date, as well as the results of the recent archeometric analyzes that have been realized to the Sarcophagus, which Confirms the origin of its marble in the quarries of the Estremoz Anticlinal (Évora, Portugal).
