    El concepto de Moscú como la tercera Roma es casi un arquetipo del nacionalismo ruso.

    Procede de la Roma clásica y de su heredera, Bizancio, la denominada segunda Roma se evidenció en el siglo XVI con los escritos del monje Filoféi y desde entonces ha estado presente en el devenir de la Federación Rusa, ya sea de forma velada o de un modo más explícito, como ocurrió en el siglo XIX y sucede en la Rusia actual, donde ese legado se percibe en muchas de las decisiones y acciones que lleva a cabo el Gobierno de Vladimir Putin, tanto en política interior como exterior.

    The ‘Moscow, third Rome’ concept is almost an archetype of Russian nationalism. It is a heritage from Classical Rome and its successor, Byzantium –the second Rome; it was launched in the Sixteenth Century due to the writings of the monk Filofej and since then it has remained in the Russian Federation, either explicitly or not; it emerged both in the 19th century and nowadays, when that legacy might be behind some decisions and actions carried out by Putin government, both in domestic and foreign affairs policy
