  • Resumen
    • The Calahonda, Sacratif and Motril turbidite system have been developed during the Plio- Quaternary in the Northern Alboran Sea. The stratigraphic architecture of these depositional systems has been established through the analysis of seismic profiles and swath bathymetry records. These turbidite systems show an important variability in its stratigraphic architecture allowing the development o f three models of turbidite systems. The Calahonda Turbidite System represents a "delta-fed ramp" which is developed during the Quaternary in a steep faultcontrolled tectonic margin. Four small canyons which are incised in the upper slope fed up to ten small channel-levee complexes. The Sacratif Turbidite System is a "canyon-fed turbidite system" which is built during the Plio-Quaternary. The sedimentary activity of one or two big canyons allows the formation of well-developed channel-levee complexes and channelized lobes. The Motril Turbidite System is a "river-fed turbidite system" which is built during the Upper Pliocene and the Quaternary. This system is fed by the Motril Paleocanyon which is filled during the Upper Quaternary and recent small gullies are eroded.
