Trazamos un esquema del sentido estético con el que se transforman los presbiterios de los templos como consecuencia de la introducción de un nuevo retablo. El fenómeno se contempla a partir del siglo XV, pero es especialmente interesante en los siglos XVII y XVIII, en que se intensifican las modificaciones realizadas, bien a partir del propio retablo, o con intervencionoes parietales ajenas a él para acomodar el entorno a su estilo más moderno.

This article deals with the aesthetic sense with which the presbyteries of the temples were transformed as a result of the introduction of a new type of altarpiece. This phenomenon became present from the 15th century but was especially interesting in the 17th and 18th centuries, when an increase of modifications stemming from the altarpiece itself or inflicted to the walls were done in order to adapt the environment to the most modern syle of the altarpiece.
