Gender in schools opened up the possibility of reflecting on educational phenomena in the classroom, that is, those related to the reproduction of practices, values of hegemonic culture, the reinforcement of gender stereotypes as well as the double-standard class participation. The acquisition of gender is learned and conveyed within the family because this is the space of socialization that transmits and internalizes ways and styles of being in the world that are reinforced in schools, and their teaching is not put into question in schools rather it is normalized as a practice typical of the differences between people. The purpose of this research is focused on showing the analytical potential of the social category "quiet students" and thus being able to understand how students behave in a school context that is real and natural, and identify that both gender stereotypes permeate or influence the teaching staff. The methodology was interpretative.

The selection of the participants was made according to the criteria expressed by the teaching staff and the coordinator of the institution where the study was carried out: quiet, high average, hardworking, orderly and disciplined female students. In the findings, it was identified that the potential of the category can help to think on the roles of women with respect to their male peers, how they relate in a school context, the stereotype that teachers maintain when addressing women, and the lack of value given to the verbal thinking of the female students
