    El presente estudio del Códice de la Cruz-Badiano busca recontextualizar este documento como un lugar de encuentro entre diferentes sistemas de escritura y conocimiento. El análisis de la relación entre la tradición pictográfica-glífica y la alfabética es una forma de aproximarse a las interacciones culturales entre el Viejo Mundo y el Nuevo Mundo, y de obtener información sobre historia natural que no se encuentra en los textos en latín dentro de códice. Este es evidencia de un proceso por el cual diferentes sistemas de conocimiento y expresión coexistieron durante la postconquista. El concepto dehibridación se utiliza para iluminar los procesos de interacción cultural presentes en este artefacto colonial del siglo XVI, para así alejarse de ideas recurrentes de contaminación o imposición cultural.

    The present study of the Codice de la Cruz-Badiano recontextualizes this document as a place of encounter between different writing systems and knowledge. The analysis of the relation between the pictographic-glyphic and alphabetical traditions is a way to approach the cultural interactions between the Old and the New World and to provide information about natural history that was not present in the texts in Latin. The codex is evidence of a complex process by which different knowledge and expression systems coexisted during the post conquest period. The concept of hibridity is useful to illuminate the processes of cultural interaction present in this colonial artifact of the 16th century, stepping away from recurrent ideas of cultural contamination or imposition.
