Resumen de Aronofsky's Mother! (2017): the disturbing power of syncretic mythical paradigms

Applying myth criticism together with selected findings in recent film studies, my main purpose is to establish sorne of the aesthetic, emotional, intellectual and spiritual functions of the mythical paradigms employed and reinterpreted by one of the major contemporary cinematographers in the United States, Darren Aronofsky (born 1969), in his 2017 film ‘Mother!’, leading to syncretic abundance of mythical paradigms in a controversia! modem parable, with the director's deliberate choice to create a disturbing and overwhelming experience for his audiences. My research questions relate to our capacity, especially during the first encounter with the film, to identify and integrate the variety of mythical schemes, their overlapping and their interactions. In this particular cinematographic production, how do mythical schemes combine into new mythical narrative(s) and how do they affect the audience?
