Resumen de La diacronía semántica de "fresco", "templado" y "tibio": aproximación histórica a las unidades intermedias de un campo léxico gradual

  Este trabajo estudia la evolución de los adjetivos fresco (‘moderadamente frío’), templado (‘ni frío ni caliente’) y tibio (‘ni frío ni caliente’), intentando explicar su diacronía semántica hasta llegar a fijarse como unidades intermedias del campo gradual de la temperatura. Sostenemos la hipótesis de que las unidades que comparten el mismo valor de campo están orientadas en una dirección común. En ese proceso estas unidades van aumentando su polisemia con distinto alcance: fresco es la unidad de mayor desarrollo significativo, seguida de templado; frente a tibio, que muestra el desarrollo significativo más débil. Pero las tres unidades comparten el hecho de seleccionar referentes específicos en la fijación de sus significados (viento, pescado o queso, en el caso de fresco) y de expresar la valoración del carácter o de otros rasgos no físicos de las personas.

  In this paper we study the evolution of the adjectives fresco (‘fresh’, ‘moderately cold’), templado (‘neither cold nor hot’) and tibio (‘neither cold nor hot’), trying to explain their semantic diachrony until they get fixed as intermediate units of the gradual field of temperature. We maintain the hypothesis that the units that share the same field value are oriented in a common direction. In this process, these units increase their polysemy with different scope: fresco is the unit with the greatest development of meaning, followed by templado; while tibio shows the weakest development of meaning. But the three units share the fact that they select specific referents in setting their meanings (viento ‘wind’, pescado ‘fish’ or queso ‘cheese’, in the case of fresco) and that they express the evaluation of character or other non-physical traits of people.
