  • In this article the author reflects on a high rate of opioid abuse and addiction which is seen in the U.S. and on factors, including extensive drug marketing, corporate greed and wide spread availability, which have led to the high rate. He is critical of factors which have led to excessive opioid use in the U.S. and is supportive of programs such as twelve step programs which can help lead drug addicted individuals into recovery.
