The article discusses various aspects of the Difficulty by Motivation matrix (diagram) which was developed by the authors as a means of helping public health (PH) clinicians program planners better allocate population health, behavioral change, and PH resources. Self-determination theory and an individual's level of readiness are examined, along with information about seat belt use, vaccination behavior, and chronic diseases such as obesity and diabetes.
