Occidente, tierra de blancos…El viaje de Ken Bugul a Europa.

Resumen

En el presente trabajo relataremos el viaje iniciático de Ken Bugul en Europa. Un viaje que nuestra escritora deberá realizar para encontrarse consigo misma y alejarse del abismo que la aterra desde que su madre la abandonó, dejándola, a la edad de cinco años, gritando, desconsolada y sola, en el andén de una estación de tren en el momento de la despedida. África representa el calor humano, la tribu así como una mezcla de paisajes y de colores que nuestra escritora porta en ese equipaje hacia Occidente…tierra de blancos, la tierra de sus antepasados los galos…allí donde se encuentra, o así pensaba ella, el paraíso terrenal. Como objeto de estudio para dicho análisis escogeremos su primera novela Le baobab fou donde hace partícipe al lector de sus primeras vivencias en Europa.

In this abstract, we will speak about Ken Bugul´s initial journey in Europe. A journey, which our writer had to do in order to find herself, and to distance herself from the hell which had been destroying her since her mother abandoned her. Leaving her at the age of five, screaming, inconsolable and alone, when parting from her on the platform of a train station. Africa represents human warmth, the tribe together with a mixture of landscapes and colours is what our writer carries in her baggage towards the Western World…land of the white man, the land of her ancestors, the Gauls…that´s where she would find, or so she thought, paradise on earth. For study purposes of this analysis we have chosen her first novel Le baobab fou where she makes the reader participate in her first experiences in Europe
