Resumen de La sede de Empúries del Museu d’Arqueologia de Catalunya: un proyecto centenario de recuperación patrimonial, investigación y museografía arqueológica

  En 2017 se cumple un siglo desde la inauguración del primer espacio expositivo que permitía a los visitantes llegados hasta el yacimiento emporitano contemplar algunos de los hallazgos de las excavaciones, promovidas desde la Junta de Museus de Barcelona a partir de 1908. Durante la segunda mitad del siglo xx, la necesidad de ampliar el espacio museístico y de incrementar la colección expuesta, comportó nuevas edificaciones e instalaciones museográficas. La disposición actual de la sala principal del Museo tiene sus orígenes en la reforma llevada a cabo en los años noventa del siglo pasado, añadiéndose en 2008 un nuevo espacio destinado a acoger la estatua original de Asclepio y otros hallazgos escultóricos.

  A la espera de una futura renovación y actualización de la exposición permanente, desde el MAC-Empúries se han impulsado, en los últimos años, destacables proyectos de adecuación museográfica en diversos sectores del yacimiento, así como la puesta en funcionamiento de nuevos equipamientos esenciales para el Museo y para la visita del conjunto arqueológico.

  2017 is the centenary of the opening of the first exhibition space that allowed visitors to the Emporitan site to contemplate some of the findings of the excavations, promoted by the Junta de Museus de Barcelona from 1908. During the second half of the twentieth century, the need to increase the exhibition space and the size of the collection on display led to new buildings and museographic installations being brought into service. The present layout of the main gallery of the museum has its origins in the renovation carried out in the 1990’s together with the later addition of a new space in 2008 to house the original statue of Asclepius and other sculptural findings.

  While awaiting a future renovation and an updating of the permanent exhibition, in recent years the MAC-Empúries has carried out several museographic projects in different sectors of the site and set up new essential facilities and services both for the museum and for visiting this archaeological site.
