Introduction: Alcohol is the drug most consumed by teenagers today. Its use has become a basic element in youth culture and leisure, so much so that it has become a habit and is a risk factor in the adoption of dangerous behaviors for the individual’s health as well as the population. The latest trend is "binge drinking", which consists of intense consumption in a short space of time, where the only intention is to get drunk.

Aims: Knowing the prevalence of alcohol intake by teenagers and the relation it has with sociocultural factors. Guiding the development and evaluation of possible measures to reduce this drug taking and its associated problems.

Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study with stratified probability sampling using a structured questionnaire with various items of multiple-choice answers as a tool.

Results: Significant data on the prevalence of binge drinking were obtained as well as reasons for drinking and what behaviours are considered more or less risky than alcohol. Together with the phenomenon of binge drinking, we got information about other drugs intake, type of beverages consumed and where and how to get them.

Conclusions: The epidemiological significance of taking alcohol lies both in the fact that it is the most consumed drug and in the prominence it has acquired as social articulator of this age group, and the reference substance in relation with other drugs.
