Resumen de Flying high: : Hybrid airships in mineral transport

Myles McCormick

  • The result is what they have termed the "hybrid airship" - "hybrid" because it combines the buoyant lift of a helium filled envelope, the aerodynamic lift given by the airfoil shape of the envelope, or outer shell, and, through its piston engines, the thrust or propulsion that allows it to vector and change direction.

In a statement, Pierre Lortie, Quest's chairman, said the site of the company's operations mean it is "well positioned to fully leverage the cost efficiencies and environmental advantages of the LMH-1", while Charles Bouchard, CEO of Lockheed Martin Canada, said he was "thrilled" to see the company's technology "being sought after to solve transportation challenges in some of the most isolated and northern regions of Canada".
