    Durante el siglo XVIII, la Corona española fue, progresivamente, sustituyendo los contratos con particulares con la administración directa. Medidas que fueron especialmente intensas en los sectores estratégicos de sus intereses. Proceso que ha sido objeto de un importante interés por parte de la literatura especializada. No obstante, el ramo de los transformados del cáñamo para la construcción naval (jarcia y lona), no han tenido esta misma atención. Nos centraremos aquí en desarrollar la puesta en marcha de las fábricas reales de jarcia y lona en el arsenal de Marina de Cartagena, a partir de 1751. La logística de los insumos y la maquinaria necesaria, el capital humano preciso (técnicos y obreros), la financiación y las infraestructuras industriales serán los puntos principales a desarrollar.

    During the 18th century, the Spanish Crown was, progressively, replacing the contracts with individuals by the direct administration. Measures that were especially intense in the strategic sectors of its interests. This process that has been an object of an important interest on part to the specialized literature. However, the sector in hemp for shipbuilding (cordage and canvas), have not been given this same attention. We will focus here on developing the startup of the royal factories of cordage and canvas in the Marine arsenal of Cartagena, from 1751. The logistics of the commodities and the necessary machinery, the precise human capital (technicians and workers), the financing and the indispensable industrial infrastructures will be the main points to be developed.
