En el presente artículo, hacemos un recorrido de la presencia de pasajeros almonteños a las Indias durante el siglo XVI a través de los fondos documentales que se custodian en el Archivo General de Indias. La información recogida en estas líneas constituye un aporte bastante relevante para reconstruir la biografía de todos aquellos almonteños que sin estar provistos de cargos ni oficios remunerados, se embarcaron en la aventura de marchar a América en busca de trabajo, fortuna y mejor vida.

In the present article we take a tour of the list of passenger to the West Indies, who originated from Almonte in the 16th century, by studying the documentary sources kept in the the General Archive of the Indies. The information anoted in these lines provides substantial information relevant to reconstructing the biographies of all the Almontenses who, without rank or paying jobs, embarked on an adventure to America in search of work, fortune and a better life.
