Abstract

This article examines the visual poetry of the neovanguardista Juan Luis Martínez, “the best-kept secret of Chilean poetry.” "Poetry Homework" argues that Martínez's artist books La nueva novela (1985), La poesía chilena (1978), and El poeta anónimo (o el eterno presente de Juan Luis Martínez) (2012) constitute a trilogy of innovative collage-writing and a profound act of aesthetic resistance during the dictatorship era.
