    La propuesta filosófica de Eugenio Trías se construye sobre la noción de límite y su relación con el ser. El ser consciente de su condición humana, el ser del límite, aparece como sujeto de un imperativo ético categórico que le invita a permanecer como tal ser del límite. La filosofía del límite hace uso del concepto de persona para caracterizar a este sujeto ético, aunque de manera distinta que las escuelas del personalismo clásico. El pensar en clave de persona consciente de su condición aleja toda posibilidad de convertir la ética en relativista y al mismo tiempo toma distancia del individualismo posmoderno o pragmatista. El sujeto ético es esencialmente libre pero consciente de su necesidad de relación con otros seres limítrofes, por eso su condición de persona también se abre a la necesidad de vivir en comunidad. Aunque la filosofía del límite no es una praxis personalista abre un cauce de reflexión y de diálogo con esta desde la metafísica, la ética y la estética que la componen.

    The philosophical proposal of Eugenio Trías is built upon the concept of limit and its relationship with the being. The being who is aware of its human condition, the being of the limit, appears as the subject of a categorical and ethical imperative which invites it to remain as such being of the limit. The philosophy of the limit makes use of the concept of person to depict that ethical subject, although it takes distance from some classic personalist schools. By using the concept of person aware of its condition, this ethics puts back any possibility to become relativistic and at the same time it distances itself from postmodern or pragmatist individualism. The ethical subject is essentially free but aware of the necessity of relating with other beings of the limit. Thus, its condition of being a person is open to live in community. Although the philosophy of the limit is not a personalist praxis, it may be inclined to establish a dialogue with it from the metaphysics, ethics and aesthetics that compound it.
