El mapping consiste en la proyección sobre la superficie de un edificio o de un objeto, de imágenes en movimiento coordinadas con esta, creando la ilusión de que son reales.
Desde los primeros son et lumière se ha evolucionado vertiginosamente hacia espectáculos donde las esculturas hablan, los edificios se reconstruyen desde la primera piedra y se explican intrincadas historias llenas de personajes y efectos especiales.
¿Tiene sentido utilizar el mapping, no como mero espectáculo, sino como herramienta dedicada a la conservación y difusión del patrimonio cultural? Intervenciones como #Taüll1123 nos muestran cómo este camino está abierto y permite, por un lado, la recuperación de monumentos bajo un criterio estrictamente arqueológico, y por otro, hacerlo de forma compatible con la recreación, sobre bases científicas sólidas, de momentos históricos pasados y con la introducción de la sensibilidad contemporánea y la búsqueda de la emoción.

Mapping is the projection on the surface of a building or an object of moving images coordinated with it, creating the illusion that they are real. From the first «son et lumière» it has evolved vertiginously to shows where the sculptures speak, the buildings are rebuilt from the first stone and intricate stories are explained, full of characters and special effects.
Does it make sense to use mapping, not as a mere show, but as a tool dedicated to the conservation and dissemination of cultural heritage? Interventions such as #Taüll1123 show us how this path is open and allows the recovery of monuments under a strictly archaeological criterion, and on the other hand to do so in a way compatible with the recreation, on solid scientific bases, of past historical moments, and with the introduction of contemporary sensibility and the search for emotion.
